Lacrosse - Ross Moves from Roughnecks to Rock

Kyle Ross of the Calgary Roughnecks moved Friday to Toronto Rock.

It will be remembered that there was an earlier trade where Ross together with Jon Harnett and Daryl Veltman moved to Calgary Roughnecks from the Boston Blazers in exchange for all-star Josh Sanderson.

According to Calgary Roughnecks general manager Terry Sanderson, they have been wanting "more grit" for their backend, saying We want to make it a bit tougher for teams to play us. He's (Ross) a tough guy who can run the floor for our club.

Kyle Ross has been with the NLL four seasons, and has played 47 games. He has a record of 9 goals, 26 assists and 256 loose ball scoops.

The 26-year old Ross is generally regarded as a defender. Sanderson added that In Boston, Ross played on their special teams, he was a loose ball guy and would protect (teammates) in man-down situations. He is going to do that for us, as well. We're adding another player to our way of doing things in Toronto.

In 2007, it was with the Minnesota Swarm where it all began for Kyle Ross's professional lacrosse career. In the 2009 season, the Blazers drafted Ross for their expansion. Ross' Blazers general manager Doug Reffue had this to say about Kyle, "He's got a very high lacrosse IQ, he's extremely tenacious, he never backs down and he drops the gloves if he has to." "But the most important thing is that he has a knack for putting himself in the right place at the right time."
